Canon 50D

We did our long run yesterday evening - I ran for about 90 minutes. I took a few weeks off because of a hurt ankle, so it was great to be running again. Afterwards we came home an ran a few tests on our new camera...

After quite a lot of searching, Jay and I finally found a Canon 50D body yesterday afternoon. We checked for hot or dead pixels, checked the focus, and checked out the new high ISO capabilities. We're very happy with the results. This is an excellent camera. I'm very happy to have the higher resolution as well - I've been waiting for that for quite some time. :) The sky was tempting this morning, but the clouds moved on before I could really give the new camera a try. I did take a shot of a nearby lake. We'll see how it comes out.

Canon 5D Mark II

DPReview has published preview specs for the new 5D Mark II from Canon. What a beautiful camera! 21.1 million effective pixels, excellent ISO capabilities, an integrated cleaning system, the excellent DIGIC 4 processor... and it will be priced around $2700. Oh, and did I mention that it has high definition video capability?

Right - so... I'm going to try not to drool too much over this one. Jay and I will likely sell our bodies (camera bodies, that is) and upgrade to the 5D Mark II and the 50D.

Meanwhile, my website is looking good. I'm still wading through the major changes... my website has evolved quite a lot in the past few years. I am adding information on our workshops, a links page, and several other useful areas. I'll also add a section where buyers can purchase my work directly... though that may go live a little further down the road.

Canon 50D

At last! The Canon 50D is here. We'll be selling my 40D in a few weeks. Just as soon as we have the new 50D in our hands. :) You can take a look at the specs for this camera at Digital Photography Review. 15.1 megapixels, Digic 4 processor, improved ISO sensitivity, less noise... it looks like it's going to be good.

We've been waiting for this one for a long time. Now - I want to see what's next in the full frame arena. :) I love new cameras!
