New Article

Jay and I finished up our Hyperfocal Distance Field Guide while we were traveling this week, and it is now available on my website. This is a simple, explanatory guide for photographers who want to maximize depth of field in their images. We'd love to have feedback from anyone who reads through it. Let us know if it was helpful to you, and if there is anything you think we should add.

Technical article in progress

Jay and I are working on putting together another technical article while we wait in the airport. We were able to get a lot done while we waited for our delayed flights in Atlanta last week as well. I'd like to get some of the photos from our trip processed this week - so I'm glad to get some work done. That way, I can concentrate on the images, and not worry about the things I'm not doing instead. :)

Ah - our plane has arrived. Better shut down.

Articles

I spent the morning putting the finishing touches on the new articles section of my website. This is the largest section of my website next to the galleries - so it has been a time-consuming process. This change was designed to make accessing the articles much simpler. It is no longer necessary to download bulky PDF documents. You can click on the link to any article and you'll be taken to the special articles section of my site. I tried to make sure it was easy to navigate as well. Please let me know what you think if you have the time. I always look forward to hearing from my readers.

And speaking of my readers - visitors to my blog and website are increasing rapidly. My numbers have increased nearly five-fold from last year. That's a big deal for me. I want to thank all of you for taking time out of your busy day to check out my work. I love your comments and emails, and it means a lot to me to know that so many people are enjoying my work. I'll keep working - and I hope you'll keep stopping by to see what's new.

Autumn...

Tomorrow, we leave for Maine. We plan to fly into Boston, and we'll shoot sunset and sunrise on the coast before making the drive to Acadia. Of course, those are tentative plans. Our plans change on a dime if weather conditions call for it. We are looking forward to this trip - it's been a long summer, and we are ready to take out our cameras once again. I am ready for a few days of very little sleep, cold fingers, and long hikes. :) I'm hoping for some great light, too.

I'll try to update my blog as often as possible while we're away, but as you know, it's hard to find reliable internet connection. I'll do my best.

Jay and I are currently working on a couple of new technical articles. I also have another personal article in the works. It will take some time to get details hammered out, but we may have some time to work in the airport and during our flights.

A Land of Extremes

Our Death Valley article has been published at Nature Photographers Online Magazine. Jay and I wrote the article a few years ago, and I recently rewrote the article and re-edited the images for Nature Photographers. The articles is available on my website as well. I hope you'll enjoy it. Death Valley is an amazing place to visit - I can't wait to get there again. I hope you'll let me know what you think of the article. I'm always looking for constructive criticism and new ideas.

Thanks for all your support.

Outback Photo

Part One of my Following the Light article on Glacier National Park is now available on Outback Photo. It's been up there for a few days, now, but we were in Wyoming, so I didn't have a chance to post about it.
We arrived home this morning around 4am and fell into bed. Now, we're headed to the gym for a quick workout before lunch. I need a good run - vacation food makes me feel terrible. :) I did get a few nice landscape photographs from this trip. I'll be working as much as I can this week, and I hope to have some posted before long.

Meanwhile, I hope you'll check out my article on Outback Photo.

Happy Downloading!

Well - it looks like people are enjoying our new downloads page. I'm glad to see that. We're getting an enormous number of hits there each day - certainly more than we expected. I hope everyone is enjoying their new computer backgrounds. If anyone has suggestions, feel free to email me - or just leave a comment here on my blog. We're always looking for ideas.

Yesterday evening we spent a few hours at a Cleveland Photographic Society meeting. It was good to see all our friends, there. We don't get to go as often as we like, but we always have a good time when we go.

Today, we're planning to do a shoot for an article we're working on. It will take a couple of hours, and then we'll get to work on processing the images. I'll write the article next week - if I find time.

Free Downloads

Jay and I are now offering free downloads of our images for use as computer backgrounds. This took some time to implement, but it's finally up and ready to go. If you'd like to have one of our photos on your computer, just choose the appropriate screen size and download the image you like best.

I've also added a link on the main page of my website - right at the top. It's ugly, but it will have to do for now. I'm in the process of redesigning, so please bear with me. Meanwhile, I wanted the link to be available.

Yesterday and this morning, I finished uploading a series of stock images for review. I submit stock images to 9 different websites (sometimes more), so it takes a couple of days to keyword, upload, and categorize. I'm glad to have this set done - I did the shoot several months ago, and finally got through them. Thank goodness.

I also completed my next article for Outback Photo. Part One should be online sometime next week. At that point, I'll also publish it on my website. I really enjoyed writing this one. It's about Glacier National Park in Montana.
