Valentines and file transfers...
I created this image last week. The shots were taken last month sometime, but I spent a few hours in PhotoShop on Valentines day, and ended up with this final image. I don't spend as much time manipulating images as I used to. I enjoy doing this kind of thing... but I rarely have the time for it. I didn't really have time on the 14th either, but I did it anyway. :)
We had a photo shoot yesterday. It took six hours (with a break for dinner) - but we had a good time. We got some good stock shots that I'll have time to process later in the week. For now, I'm getting my new computer system up and running. As you can see, I now have internet access once again - but my email program is giving me some trouble. I'll be working on getting things smoothed out this week, so please forgive the decrease in posts. I should be back up to speed soon.

Hello again,
As I was reading this entry I saw that you mentioned Photoshop and I thought I'd suggest another photo editing program that I have heard is better than Photoshop. It comes with the operating system "Ubuntu" which is a free linux based operating system that I love. I have only just started to mess around with the GIMP Photo Editor but I have friends who say that it is a lot better than Photoshop and it is free! Give it a try if you want.
It has a nifty way of partitioning the hard drive so that you can have both your original operating system and also Ubuntu. Give it a shot :)
oh here is the website for Ubuntu http://www.ubuntu.com/
Thanks Justin! I'm going to do some research and see what this system has to offer. It sounds very interesting. I have some experience with Linux systems, so the hard drive partitioning and OS installation wouldn't be a problem for me. It does look as if there are versions available for other operating systems, however - so if others are interested, you can google it and find out more.
Thanks for the suggestions - and it's really good to hear from you again, Justin!

By versions avaliable for other operating systems do you mean versions of Ubuntu for, say, Mac instead of Windows?
Sorry - I meant that GIMP is available for other operating systems. :)

Jay and I were just talking about you yesterday - we were at the Ranger Station at Grand Canyon National Park, asking about the North Canyon Wash. We got some good information there and at the Back Country Info Center, but we thought that you and your co-workers might have some good information about the area. We are planning a trip there sometime later in the year (possibly Fall?). Do you have any suggestions for us? Do you know the area at all? And have you been there? We'll probably stop in for advice before our trip.
Take care!
Varina
