The Flare
We drove to the dunes under absolutely beautiful skies last week. They were moving slowly, but we were concerned that they might clear up before the sun rose. We headed out to search for good locations on the dunes, and I took a few shots of the pre-dawn color. As the sun peaked over the horizon, I took this small-aperture shot in order to create a flare. I took three bracketed shots in order to capture the entire dynamic range of the scene, and then combined the images manually in Photoshop. It's a complicated process, but I'm happy with the results. What do you think?

Thanks for taking the time to comment, Rafa. :) I hope you have a chance to visit the US and see these beautiful dunes! Have you been here before?
Varina
Varina, I have never been in USA. It is one of my photographic dreams: Southwest, and I hope to be able to fulfill it very soon.
Rafa
You will not be disappointed. :) Try to take some time to explore the incredibly diverse landscapes of the Southwest. I hope you can take a few weeks or more - there is too much beauty to discover in a few days time. We have returned to the Southwest several times in the past year, and we still have enormous areas to explore.
Be sure to see Bryce Canyon, Zion, Grand Staircase - Escalante, The Wave, and the Paria River Canyon... and that's just a beginning. Stop in at the Ranger Stations in any of these areas and ask a lot of questions. They are incredibly helpful.
Good luck!
Many thanks, Varina
